With more food options available than ever before we’re also more conscious about our food patterns. Where does it come from, what are we eating exactly and why do we eat so much meat? We aren’t the only ones asking these questions, therefore, we’ve exchanged our rom-com Netflix list for one filled with documentaries about the food industry.
Betting on Zero
Even though this documentary has only just been released it has already received loads of attention. Director Ted Braun goes behind-the-scenes of the dark world of Herbalife. Instead of helping people it’s revealed to be one big multi-level marketing stunt.
What the Health
Probably one of the most talked about food documentaries of the year. It’s revealed how health organisations spend loads of money on the food industry to keep them quiet. As a result, not much is known about the relation between food and human diseases, which this documentary brings to light.
Instead of only thinking about our current generations and the best food choices for us, this documentary analyses what’s also the best choice for our future generations and the planet. Is a vegan lifestyle really the best?
A chef, farmers and the general population discuss the importance of sustainable food. Nowadays we live in a world where mass production is completely normal but these people explain why it shouldn’t be and cannot be a part of our future.
Side note: even though documentaries are made to tell an objective point-of-view some (unintentionally) don’t cover all subjects. For example, when you Google ‘What the Health’ you get different pro- and con arguments. Just something to keep in mind.
