We’ve shared our love for libraries here before but what surprises us is that all of those places are historic buildings that make you feel as if you’ve been transported back in time. This new library in China makes you feel the exact opposite; as if you’ve been transported into the future. Say hi to the most futuristic library in the world.
It took three years to complete the five-store library, which is designed by the Dutch architecture firm MVRDV. Since it’s located in the Binhai Cultural District in Tianjin and the library is shaped like a giant eye, it has been named The Eye of Binhai. With over 1.2 million books, we think it’s safe to say you won’t get bored at this place unless you get distracted by the architecture because that’s pretty hard to miss. The perfect place for both book- and design-lovers.
