Instagram just got another step closer to becoming the ultimate stalker platform. Following Facebook and Whatsapp’s footsteps, the social media platform introduced a private messaging feature that lets your followers know when you were active. Luckily, you can turn off this redundant feature easily (find our how over here) but the latest feature is unfortunately compulsory. Instagram now alerts your followers if you’ve screenshotted their Stories. Great.
Good bye freedom to screenshot IG stories. 💔 Thank you, Instagram for the warning. pic.twitter.com/y0pEaVR0Jq

At the moment, the feature hasn’t been completely rolled out yet and is only active in a test group, which could mean it won’t go ahead. Nevertheless, there’s a big chance it will as competitor Snapchat has been running the same feature for a while. Fortunately, there’s a way around it by turning your phone’s airplane mode on while taking a screenshot. A bit of hassle but that will be worth it for an embarrassing screenshot of your ex to share with your friends.
