The best terrace of Amsterdam is just one ferry ride away from Central Station

It doesn’t matter if you’re a tourist or a local in Amsterdam, sometimes you just need to get away from all the chaos. That means it’s time for a little adventure without even having to leave Amsterdam. Just a 4.5 minutes ferry ride from Amsterdam Central Station (the shortest one to Buiksloterweg) you’ll find the North part of Amsterdam. However, don’t get fooled because we aren’t the only ones loving the North, partly due to other hotspots opening up here (take for example Hotel De Goudfazant), it can get quite busy here too. This is exactly what we experienced ourselves when we visited the Tolhuistuin but luckily only good things were to come at this great place.

A week later we were lucky enough to get a free spot (with a reservation though) and from that moment onwards it only got better. We were given a table at the window but of course, a table at the window doesn’t mean a lot without a view. However, we can assure you that there definitely is a view. No need to get stuffed with food, just visit this place for a cup of coffee and you’ll be very happy. The restaurant/café used to be Shell’s factory cantine, which gives the place even more retro vibes. This place has immediately stolen our hearts.

However, the skyline isn’t the only thing you’ll enjoy here because the food is just as good. Even though the place is stuffed with people, we were surprised to see that every single dish is a piece of art and absolutely delicious.

We could hardly choose between all the mouth-watering dishes so we decided to go for a few share dishes: artichoke with tarragon mayonnaise, fried risotto cookies (omg!), spicy flavoured farm chicken, chicken sate with real peanut sauce, garlic popcorn and the best homemade nachos you’ll ever taste and probably the biggest portion too. After analysing the menu multiple times we decided to leave some space for dessert because bread & butter pudding and brownie with salted caramelised chocolate ise cream, do we need to say more?! We’re still recovering as we speak.

Definitely, make sure to visit this place (with a reservation) if you’re in for an amazing view and even better food. PS. You can only pay by card here so if you’re planning to get rid of your dirty money it’s probably best to do that at our flagship store.
