You think you are not participating and then all of the sudden you have a predilection for a certain car brand. This love does not have to be monogamous at all, because looking or touching other cars aren’t so bad as well. Thanks to our online magazine, we are lucky that we can drive a large number of different cars. To test, to write about and also to have a nice weekend with it (and still write about it). And we can tell you: this is not so bad. It’s amazing. But we have to be honest that one of our favourite brands is the Alfa Romeo.
Sexy Utility Vehicle
The love for Alfa Romeo has started to flourish the past couple of years. This first happened with a city car (the delicious Mito Veloce) and after this beauty we have completely fallen in love with the arrival of the Stelvio. We think the designers of Alfa Romeo were so done with the monotonous, boring, overpopulated SUV market. But holy Gods, we are happy with that, because the streets (at least) in Amsterdam are flooded with original (uch uch, many German brands) SUVs. But this one, oh this one, is a beauty. We promise you that.
We would recognize the back and the rest of the Stelvio’s design from a line-up of thousands, because daaayum. Sexy! Yet all those sexy lines on the Stelvio are not only for decoration, because if it is something that Alfa Romeo is not, then it is superficial. When you are on the highway with this baby, you won’t hear a thing. And we all know what that says about the quality of a car. When you see the Stelvio for the first time, it looks a bit like the Giulia. That’s also such an iconic model of the manufacturer with a typical ‘Alfa’ feeling:
But before you think this article is meant to badmouth SUVs or other car brands, think again. We just want to make it clear that the people at Alfa had a long thought (a bit too long if you ask us, because we wanted to drive this car way earlier) before they put an SUV on the market. But when it finally came out, we did understand why it took so long. Oh boy, what a baby. Are you ready to see our new baby? Beauty isn’t it?
Hasselt here we come
Unfortunately, we did not have the time to take the car to its namesake (the Stelvio Pass – a fantastic mountain pass in the Italian Alps), so we took the car to Hasselt. Not familiar with this metropolis? We get it, it’s still an undiscovered piece of Belgium, but we suspect that this will be a place everyone will visit in 2019. And the best way to get there, is by car of course. So the only thing you have to do is rent or buy a Stelvio. And if you want to buy one, start saving. The price starts at 55,000 euros. That’s a lot of money, but what you get in return, is absolutely worth your money. Come on, a Q4-four-wheel drive, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine of 280 hp to a chic with wood finished interior, that’s everything you want, right?
We can’t wait for the next creation of Alfa Romeo
We suspect that our love for the Italian brand will continue to grow for a while and we are very curious about what the (bright) future of Alfa will look like. We cannot wait to find out and drive it, of course.
